Originally thought to made by the Aztecs in the belief that they bring rainstorms, our rainsticks are hand made in Chilie from naturally fallen cactus. this ingenious little instrument works in such a simple way. The cactus spines are pushed back inside the dried, hollow skin and small gravel is added. The ends are sealed and as the stick is tipped, the spines ensure that the gravel trickles slowly down to the lower end, making a beautiful rain-like sound. Finished off with a piece of hand-woven Chilean fabric, this item may vary in size and shape due to natural variations. Approx 5cm diameter and 15cm in length.
